Your Bio

When you come into my home studio, you’ll see photographs of my own children on the walls, a sense of family. I do this partly to provide a warm, friendly environment, and partly to remind me of why I became a photographer.

Photography, for me, is all about capturing moments and creating memories. The “moments” are those tiny, mostly inconsequential, times in a child’s life that mostly pass by unnoticed, but are in fact, special facets of your child. I see hundreds of different expressions on those tiny faces. It’s my job to find those expressions and capture them on film. It’s a job I love….

Around the time my first child was born in 1997, I was really struck by how fleeting the moments of childhood are. I decided to quit my job and stay home full time with my children. During this time, I also discovered my love for photography and have been a professional photographer since 2004.

Needless to say, my kids have given me countless opportunities to practice and improve my skills as a photographer! Most of my knowledge and skill come from practical experience, reading countless books and articles, and courses from the New York Institute of Photography. I’ve been lucky enough to have the encouragement of my family and friends that helped me to achieve my goal of becoming a professional photographer. This year, I was honored to place first in the Children/Family Professional Division at the Orange County Fair.

My photographic approach is to capture the true personality of my subjects. For children, this means I will enter their world of play to capture these moments. I certainly don’t expect children to sit still! My style is a candid/casual/natural type of photography. I keep props down to a minimum, so your child remains the focus. And isn’t that what’s important, after all?

My clients compliment me on making the sessions easy and enjoyable for them. And although it’s certainly not my goal, a mom cried recently when viewing the images of her child, which she thought were “perfect.” I was very touched and thought that was a great compliment.

What special moments can I capture for you?
